How to Fix iPhone X Face ID Not Working?

If your iPhone X-12 is damaged by water or dropped with Face ID failure. Don't worry, this guide explains why your phone is showing Face ID not working, moving your iPhone lower/higher, and how to fix it using J-Box and V1S.

If your case is not related to a software issue, the message may appear on a front-facing sensor (such as an IR camera, ambient light sensor, spot projector, or flood illuminator) on the iPhone X earpiece flex cable. If one of these three parts fails, an error will result.

If you've recently replaced your iPhone X's screen display, it may be caused by the pins that connect the earpiece to the motherboard, so you'll need to contact the screen replacement store and have them check if the pins are connected properly or not.

    Troubleshooting Hardware Issues:

Step 1. Test the floodlight

There are two important parts of Face ID whose behavior relies on flood illuminator support. As part of our day-to-day repair work, we can confirm that the floodlights are working properly by testing the proximity sensor and ambient light sensor.

Cover the top of the screen with one hand and make a call to confirm that the proximity sensor is working. We can see that the screen goes black immediately. From this, it is judged that the proximity sensor is working normally.

Next, test the ambient light sensor. Turn the screen brightness down to minimum and place the phone in bright light. As the screen gets brighter, we can confirm that the ambient light sensor is working as well.

Step 2. Test the front camera assembly

Let's move on to the next step where facial recognition isn't working - testing the iPhone X front camera part. Open the camera app and swipe to portrait mode. The background is not blurred, which is not normal.

Step 3. Observation Point Projector

In portrait mode, there is no flashing red light from the dot projector. But Dot Projector should flash red light in normal state. We can now confirm that the Dot Projector is down. This is the glitch that caused the Face ID setup to fail.

    How to fix it?

1. Jailbreak and write the data of the headphone cable.

First, connect the phone to the computer and use J-BOX to jailbreak the iPhone. Open the software and click "Start". The phone automatically enters recovery mode. Put the phone into DFU mode manually. The jailbreak was successful.

Open the JCID Repair Assistant. Click "Detect" and unlock automatically. Then we use JC V1S to write data. Connect the JC V1S and mobile phone to the computer.

Get the new JC handset flex cable. Connect the handset flex cable to the JC V1S. Open the JCID Repair Assistant again. Click Connect and start the test. Click Activate FPC. Bind the flex cable to the phone.

2. Install a new flex cable with written data.

Disassemble the phone and disconnect the flex cable. Remove the display assembly and remove the handset flex cable. Install a new handset flex cable.

3. Test.

Connect the display assembly and assemble the phone. Start your phone and go to the Face ID settings. The face recognition settings are normal, and the unlocking is normal. The fault is cleared.

Software problem:

The message may start popping up due to software or hardware issues. Updating your device to the latest version of iOS solves the problem for most people, but some devices require a quick fix, such as a reboot or a Face ID reset.

To update your iPhone, open the Settings app > General > Software Update. Before doing this, make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi.

To restart your iPhone with Face ID, press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, and then press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.

According to the above steps, you can solve the problem of iPhone X face ID not working. If you need the above repair tools, welcome to our Phonefix website.
